Description:

This bronze medal from 1937 was made in commemoration 10 years of the Japanisch-Deutsches Kultur-Institut. This was the organization set up for promoting friendship and cooperation between Germany and Japan by connecting Japanese students with boys from the Hitler Youth. It has the Berlin Brandenburg Gate on its obverse surmounted with a swastika and the words “Den Helfern im Volkischen Austausch,” “The Helpers in the Folk Exchange". The reverse features a depiction of the Japanese Imperial Palace with the Meganebashi Bridge in the foreground and presumably the same message in Japanese is printed around the edges. Measures 4" in diameter. Is in very good condition. This lot has a reserve.
